National Science Week (14 -21 August) is an opportunity to not only explore past achievements in the world of science and technology, but to celebrate the scientific pursuits being achieved today.
There are many ways your library can help you get involved in National Science Week, all of which you can do safely from home.
Get interactive
Manipulate 3D models of dinosaurs, volcanoes and much more in our new interactive science platform. This database can help you to visualise and understand concepts in biology, chemistry, earth and space science.
Go on an adventure with National Geographic
You can access both National Geographic Kids and a National Geographic Virtual Library for free, through your library.
National Geographic Kids allows children to explore amazing adventures in science, nature, culture, archaeology and space. Through the virtual library, you can access the complete archive of National Geographic magazine along with a cross-searchable collection of books, maps, images and videos.
Jump into Story Box Library
Story Box Library has a collection of stories with tailored activities that explore different aspects of the science world such as moon landings or microbes. We recommend checking out Moonwalkers by Mark Greenwood or Do Not Lick This Book by Idan Ben-Barak.
Access resources for study
If you're currently undergoing study in the areas of science or technology, we have two in-depth databases that could help. Our environmental studies database provides authoritative reference content in the areas of the environment, energy and natural resources. Our other platform is a comprehensive database that aids understanding and provides context for hundreds of science topics through journals, news, interactive experiments and more.
