Library and Information Week: Roots of Democracy
29 July – 4 August 2024
Library and Information Week is a time to celebrate the important role libraries play in supporting education and literacy across Australia.
This year’s theme, Roots in Democracy, explores the relationship between libraries and democracy, and what libraries do to help keep democracy thriving.
Libraries have their roots in providing free and equitable access to information, roots that extend and connect people and communities with the services they need.
A Northern Beaches Library Membership is free to join and gives you access to thousands of resources, services and programs that support lifelong learning for all members of our community.
Browse our online catalogue to find books, movies and more, or visit our Learn page to find tutorials, courses and educational resources for study, research and career help.
Early literacy programs such as Story Time, Rhyme Time and Baby Bounce sessions are held at all library locations each week, as well as our Technology Help drop-in service.
Regular information sessions held as part of our Government Services Series cover a range of topics including Age Care, Disability Support, Scams Awareness and more.
From books and movies for all ages, through to online learning resources and educational services and programs held throughout the year, there’s so much to discover at your local library.
