A new playground is now open at Freshwater Beach, with fresh equipment and facilities.

Kids of all ages will be delighted with the accessible playground, including a slide, sensory/musical items, monkey bars, swings, spinner, somersault bars, climbing area and nature trail.

The playground has been designed with a fun underwater theme, reflective of the local species in the Freshwater area.

New shade sails have been installed for sun protection, along with a fence to keep children safely contained in the play area and away from often busy roads.

Landscaping improvements include new sandstone seating, grassed areas, softfall surface, improved pathways, new BBQs and seating.

The new playground was proudly funded by the NSW Government through the Metropolitan Greenspace Program.
The playground upgrade is part of Council’s Freshwater Beach Masterplan. We also recently installed new picnic shelters, BBQs, an accessible ramp and stairs, plus a new timber lookout deck with a spectacular view of Freshwater Beach.

An accessible toilet and shower block is also proposed. The new facility would be relocated from the Freshwater Surf Life Saving Club to a dedicated spot at the northern end of the reserve, near the new playground. In addition the southern playground near the Pilu restaurant will be replaced next financial year.
