Our bushland is made up of native plants which form different vegetation communities that cover large areas of the Northern Beaches. They provide vital habitat and habitat connectivity for native animals, from the threatened Pygmy Possums and Powerful Owls, to the Common Swamp Wallaby and Ring Tail Possum.

Bushland areas clean the air we breathe, regulate our climate and filter the water running into our creeks, rivers and the ocean. Our unique bushland ecosystems that have evolved over thousands of years are also important for their aesthetic and recreational values such as exercise, relaxation and inspiration.
