Is your home, business or community group prepared for fires, floods and other emergencies? It’s time to Get Ready and we’re here to help.
Coinciding with Get Ready Weekend, we have unveiled our new Northern Beaches Emergency Dashboard to provide information before, during and after an emergency or natural disaster.
The Emergency Dashboard makes it easier to access local information quickly.
It’s a one-stop shop, bringing together information from all relevant agencies and emergency services.
The website is divided into three simple sections:
- Get Ready – advice on preparing for emergencies and a map of local hazards such as flood and bushfire prone land, coastal erosion areas and the tsunami evacuation zone
- Response – real time updates on active emergencies and natural disasters, including a detailed map with Hazards Near Me alerts, warnings or incidents, plus weather warnings, road closures, activated evacuation centres, sandbag collection locations, lagoon water levels and utility outages
- Recovery – resources to assist residents, and businesses and community groups recover following a disaster event.
NSW Rural Fire Service is also holding Get Ready events this weekend (20-21 September), with local brigades across the Northern Beaches offering helpful advice and tips on keeping your property safe.
A well-prepared property is easier for firefighters to defend and is less likely to put lives at risk. To find your local Get Ready Weekend event visit the NSW RFS Get Ready website.
For real time information on local threats and emergencies, and advice on how you can get prepared, visit the Northern Beaches Emergency Dashboard.
This project was made possible by the Disaster Risk Reduction Fund (DRRF) which is jointly funded by the Australian and NSW Governments.
