The proposed new wharf at Mackerel Beach
Monday, 20 January 2025

The wharf at Great Mackerel Beach will be updated later this year to meet current engineering standards and improve accessibility for all users.

Great Mackerel Beach is located on Pittwater in the Ku-ring-gai Chase National Park and beside Council’s owned Currawong Cottages and Beach.

Accessible only by water, with stunning views over the water, approximately 100 houses are perched close to the shoreline inhabited by a mixture of locals while others are used by holiday makers.

Council has secured almost $1 million in funding from the  Australian Government’s Thriving Suburbs Program.

The new wharf is proposed to be extended by 35 metres to approximately 105metre in length to provide access at all tidal times and it will also comply with accessibility requirements. A new bin storage area will also be included in the works.
