Being ready can make a big difference when the unexpected happens. For those in our community who may face extra challenges, planning ahead for emergencies is crucial.

That’s why we’re excited to introduce the Person-Centred Emergency (P-CEP) program to the Northern Beaches, which aims to empower seniors, people with disabilities and diverse communities by helping them create tailored emergency plans to suit their specific needs.

To bring this program to life we’re looking for locals to join as facilitators. You might be from different walks of life, but what’s most important is your passion for helping vulnerable groups prepare for emergencies. We’re looking for people who:

  • have experience living through disasters
  • work or volunteer in community or emergency services
  • are a senior, person with disability or from diverse communities.

As a facilitator, you’ll have the opportunity to:

  • complete online training with the University of Sydney to become a P-CEP facilitator
  • help plan sessions to roll out P-CEP in the community in a group or 1:1 setting
  • co-facilitate group sessions for community members to create their own emergency plan
  • participate in community action planning to identify strengths, solutions and gaps to improve emergency preparedness for key groups in our community.

Why apply?

This role is your chance to build valuable skills, play a critical role in community safety and support those who need it most.
