We are thrilled to have been recognised for excellence in asset and infrastructure management at the NSW Local Government Excellence Awards, winning the category for the Long Reef Surf Life Saving Club and Community Facilities project.

The project involved the construction of a state-of-the-art facility with integrated community and club facilities - using sustainable environmental design principles to create a unique new building that is sympathetic its surroundings. It was delivered in partnership with Long Reef Surf Life Saving Club, the NSW Government, and the local community.

At the awards, Council also received a Highly Commended award in the Community Development category, for its Have Your Say Day program. Have Your Say Day involved school student representatives speaking on topics informed by results from a comprehensive survey of over 600 local young people on issues that matter to them, such as mental health, climate change, and education. The program empowered the youth to have a voice in the Council's decision-making and planning processes, and to co-design solutions and actions for their future.

The NSW Local Government Excellence Awards are run by Local Government Professionals Australia. They celebrate the achievements and innovation of local councils and their staff.
