Swimmers at Manly Andrew BOy CHarlton Pool
Tuesday, 15 April 2025

Thirty elite local swimmers are poolside at the Brisbane Aquatic Centre to compete in the country’s biggest event on the swim calendar, the 2025 Australian Age and Open Championships.

They’re joining over 2000 athletes contesting the championships, a traditional breeding ground for Olympic gold medalists and world champions such as Ariarne Titmus and Elijah Winnington.

The swimmers – all members of Manly Swim club – are part of Manly Aquatic Centre’s prestigious squad program and regularly train under the supervision of the centre’s professional coaching team.

The club – and the centre’s – representation at the Championships is one of the largest for many years, a testament to the dedication of the swimmers, parents and coaching team. .

Parents have supported their children through multiple early morning and evening training sessions, travel to swim meets and supportive home environment. Coaches meanwhile – lead by Nationally Accredited Coach Justin Rothwell - have walked kilometres poolside guiding athletes’ skills development and race technique and had handed out hundreds of pep-talks.

Action poolside at Brisbane Aquatic Centre kicked off last week and continues through until 24th April.

Good luck to all swimmers, coaches and families involved.
