Northern Beaches' residents and visitors will again be able to access Collaroy Beach this summer.
Northern Beaches Council has worked to restore access which was severely restricted after the big storms in June this year.
Northern Beaches Council General Manager, Mark Ferguson, said that most of the public access points down to the beach have now been reopened.
"As people know, the storms caused huge damage along parts of our coastline. Most of the access points were either destroyed or were simply too dangerous for the public to use," Mr Ferguson said.
"In many ways this has been a very difficult challenge, with the beachscape significantly altered or damaged by the intensity and severity of the storm.
"Council staff have worked hard over the past several months to clean up the damage, rebuild infrastructure and restore access."
Mr Ferguson explained that in many cases Council had to replace or reconstruct access points like stairs which were destroyed by the storm.
"We still have a few access points to complete, but residents and visitors can now get back onto Collaroy Beach in time for summer," he said.
Work completed along Collaroy Beach so far includes restoring access from the Collaroy carpark, Wetherill Street and Devitt Street, as well as pedestrian access from Ramsay Street.
A number of access paths have been regraded and improved along Narrabeen Beach, as well as significant planting to help restore dune vegetation.
Council hopes to have the remaining access points open before Christmas.
Council has also removed around 45,000 cubic metres of sand from the entrance of Narrabeen Lagoon and used it to replenish the Collaroy-Narrabeen beachfront.
