With the Government announcement to close all libraries to reduce the risk of Coronavirus (COVID-19) all Northern Beaches libraries closed at 11am this morning.
Our community will still be able to access library services through two new services, Click and Collect and Library2U.
Click and Collect provides two options:
- Librarians’ Choice - inform our staff what you like to read or watch and they will pick titles for you; or
- Your Choice - choose up to seven items from the online catalogue
Members then choose a collection time between 10am-3pm (Monday to Friday) and they can collect them from outside their local library branch.
The Library2U service is to support elderly or vulnerable people who are impacted by COVID-19 (Coronavirus) and are unable to access the Click & Collect service. Staff will deliver personally selected library items to members if they have been confined to home as a consequence of COVID-19 or if the person who normally takes them to the library is no longer able to.
Northern Beaches Council Mayor Michael Regan said it was important to continue to provide a library service for the community for as long as possible.
“These are extraordinary times and we are continuing to identify ways we can work differently to service our community,’’ he said.
“That is why we have established these options for our library members. Our front line library staff will now be diverted to facilitate this service.
“We thank the community for their patience and understanding as we roll out these new services."
