The Northern Beaches’ delightful ‘Creative Space’ gallery at 105 Abbott Road, North Curl Curl, is proud to present the much-anticipated third installment in its ‘Four Elements’ series of exhibitions, this one titled ‘AIR’ (showing until 12 November 2017).
Featuring the work of 37 local and visiting artists, ‘AIR’ challenges the viewer to “explore the invisible through the visible” via a wide range of artistic media including sculpture, ceramics, painting, multimedia, drawing, basketry, printmaking, photography, textile, installations and glass.”
The ‘Creative Space’ is a great venue which supports and creates opportunities for artists to grow and develop their work,” said exhibition curator Alicia Terry, who is Arts & Cultural Development Officer with Northern Beaches Council.
“The ‘Four Elements’ exhibition series has provided an opportunity for artists to perhaps explore themes they have not considered before or to experiment within their practice.
“For ‘AIR’, there are quite a few newcomers who have not exhibited before at the Creative Space, and a few famous names, too.
“We are delighted to have the acclaimed photographic artist Paola Talbert as a guest. Paola’s beautiful, haunting work features in the collection at the Manly Art Gallery and Museum.
“Also taking part in ‘AIR’ are noted printmaker and photographer, Ben Rak, co-founder and director of Throwdown Press; Sandra Williams from Warringah Printmakers; and Melbourne-based artist Carmel Cosgrove.”
Public programming for ‘AIR’ includes a guided walkthrough of the exhibition with curator Alicia Terry and an opportunity to ‘Meet the Artists’ over afternoon tea on Sunday 5 November, from 2.00pm
On Saturday 11 November at 10.30am, the Creative Space will host ‘The Power of Air’. Discover what effect the wind has on creating waves and what influence they have on shaping the shoreline and affect those who live nearby. Presented by UNSW Water Research Laboratory.
The fourth and final exhibition in the ‘Four Elements’ series will be ‘FIRE’, with the Creative Space calling out for artists soon. For details, visit the What’s On section of Council’s website or call 0466 391 955. This exhibition is opened seven-days-a-week, from 10am to 4pm.
