The Council operated Belrose Children’s Centre has been recognised for going above and beyond in its service to local families, receiving the highest honour in the national rating scheme.
Belrose Children’s Centre has been rated by the Australian Children’s Education and Care Quality Authority (ACECQA) as ‘Excellent’, which is the highest and most difficult rating to achieve.
Belrose Children’s Centre has joined the ranks of 29 children’s services of the 17,705 in Australia to receive an Excellent rating against the National Quality Framework.
Belrose Children’s Centre is the only early learning service on the Northern Beaches that currently carries the Excellent rating. It also achieved this rating in 2020.
Council’s other children’s services have also been recognised for their outstanding service, with Family Day Care, Dee Why Children’s Centre, Brookvale Children’s Centre, Cromer Vacation Care, Manly Community Pre-school and Harbour View Children’s Centre each being rated as Exceeding the National Quality Standard (NQS).
Northern Beaches Mayor Sue Heins said Council’s educators are passionate about the delivery of quality programs that enrich the lives of local children.
“Congratulations to all staff in children’s services for your ongoing hard work, dedication and enthusiasm for early childhood education. Your expertise and talents have been rightly recognised by these highly respected ratings,” Mayor Heins said.
“Belrose Children’s Centre justly deserves this high accolade. The team have introduced several innovative and amazing programs for the children, their parents and the local community including an impressive program on anti-bias and social justice.”
The programs have been so successful that the centre was invited to present their activities to Social Justice in Early Childhood to help other educators introduce similar programs.
Belrose Children’s Centre promotes exceptional education and care, demonstrates sector leadership, and is committed to continually improving.
The National Quality Standard (NQS) sets the national benchmark for early childhood education and care and outside school hours care services to a high standard. It includes 7 criteria with 4 levels of standard.
Ratings can only be awarded by the ACECQA. To apply for Excellent rating, services must be rated Exceeding the NQS benchmark in all seven quality areas. The Excellent rating recognises providers and educators using innovative practice to achieve significant improvements.
The 4 ratings are:
• Working towards the National Quality Standard
• Meeting the National Quality Standard
• Exceeding the National Quality Standard
• Excellent
