Shoppers, particularly those with small children, will have extra reason to visit Killarney Heights Shopping Centre this week.
A recent upgrade of the playground and the adjacent public space is now complete.
Improvements include new play equipment suitable for all ages, soft fall and synthetic turf, landscaping, additional seating, shade sails as well as footpath lighting along the Tramore Place pathway.
Mayor Regan said the upgrade works have given the shopping centre an extra boost.
“We know local shopping centres have been doing it tough, particularly after COVID hit. Council is committed to doing everything it can to support retailers in these most difficult of times.
“One of the outcomes of our Place Score survey conducted a few years ago was that residents would like to see more enhancements to keep local shopping precincts alive.
“We listened. These improvements to the Killarney Heights Shopping Centre are designed to activate the public space here and enliven the shopping centre as a place to visit, to bring your children, do some shopping and to just chill out with a cup of coffee and a snack in one of the lovely cafes.
“The new landscaping, playground and seating will make a big difference to the visitor experience here, and I know local businesses will be encouraging everyone to come to the shopping centre to check it out, and of course, support our local businesses.”
