Ceramic works by eight advanced diploma graduates at Northern Beaches TAFE will take centre stage at Manly Art Gallery and Museum (MAGAM) in a new exhibition coming soon.
This exhibition features selected works by the 2019 graduates: Fiona Alvarez, Sue Buckle, Jules Irving, Dana Lundmark, Mandie Robertson, Kay Runcie, Heidi Steller and Ron Tuck.
Mayor Michael Regan said MAGAM has long-established links with the ceramics department of Northern Beaches TAFE.
“It is a great partnership, which enriches the visual arts exhibition program at MAGAM and enables the public to view the excellent work produced at this renowned local teaching facility.”
MAGAM Senior Curator Katherine Roberts said the diversity of the work in the exhibition reflected the artists’ skill and creativity.
“Their works illustrate how the clay medium can be so deftly moulded and transformed into riveting sculptural objects,” she said.
TAFE ceramics teacher, Walter Auer said. “The exceptional work from our advanced diploma graduates in this exhibition is the culmination of many years of commitment to ceramic study by each of the students.”
In the exhibition, artists’ statements, positioned alongside their work, provide the opportunity for the artists to articulate their ideas and inspiration, giving the viewer a deep insight into their work.
“We believe all visitors to the exhibition will come away with a more profound understanding of the beauty and diversity of ceramic art,” Ms Roberts said.
