Northern Beaches Council have released the results of their annual Community Satisfaction Survey, which found an increase in community satisfaction up from 86% in 2018 to 90% this year.
The survey looks at long-term trends and priorities across a broad range of Council services and facilities.
The random telephone survey of 753 residents across all Northern Beaches ward areas was conducted from May to June 2019 by consultants from Jetty Research.
The survey also found that 98% of residents were happy with the quality of life on the Northern Beaches. Key highlights of the survey include:
- 90% of residents are satisfied with the overall performance of Council over the past 12 months, up from 86% in 2018.
- Respondents were significantly more satisfied with tracks and trails, bike paths and the provision of lifeguards on beaches compared to other metropolitan benchmarks.
- 88% of respondents were at least somewhat satisfied with the overall performance of the Mayor and Councillors.
- Over 80% of residents surveyed were at least somewhat satisfied with the performance of staff handling their most recent enquiry.
- Service areas receiving the lowest ratings of satisfaction were development approvals process, traffic management, managing development (land use planning), lobbying on behalf of the community and condition of public toilets.
Northern Beaches Council Mayor Michael Regan said overall the findings were pleasing.
“It’s great to see that the majority of people still continue to feel very proud of this area and that they feel a strong sense of belonging to their community,’’ he said.
“The feedback also tells us that our residents are really happy with their quality of life and that Council is on the right track, which is fantastic.
“This information helps Council focus on areas for improvement. We are constantly looking at how to improve our service delivery for our residents and rate payers.’’
