Northern Beaches Council has adopted the Children's Services strategy, following endorsement at Council’s meeting yesterday evening.

The Strategy has been developed to guide the delivery of education and care services for children and families in the community.

Mayor Michael Regan said the strategy received strong support during community consultation in early 2020.

“Council is committed to providing quality affordable education and care services that support families and children.

“We recognise the role local government has to play in meeting the needs of children with additional needs, as well as playing a key role in supporting low income, disadvantaged or vulnerable families in our community.

“Research over several decades has demonstrated the positive social impacts of early education and care.

“What underpins our strategy is the firm belief that focused, high-quality preschool education and care reduces the effects of social disadvantage, develops children’s social competency and emotional health, and prepares them for a successful transition to school.

“This Strategy will provide clear direction for Council to deliver effective Children’s Services operations, focus areas, strategic actions and capital expenditure into the future.”
