Northern Beaches residents are being encouraged to stay at home and heed health restrictions currently enforced until 9 July.
Mayor Michael Regan encourages residents and workers to do the right thing and heed the health directions and limit their movements to essential purposes only.
“People may leave their homes for essential reasons, which include for work or study that cannot be undertaken at home, to exercise outdoors, shopping for essential items and for care and compassionate reasons,” Mayor Regan said.
Residents may still attend COVID testing and vaccination sites and are encouraged to do so.
“While no doubt this will be frustrating for those with school holiday plans, this is an important measure to keep our community safe
“Our beaches, ocean pools, sports fields and playgrounds remain open and available for people to access for exercise purposes only while continuing to practice the social distancing and hygiene rules.
“I encourage the Northern Beaches community to look after each other and check in on neighbours and friends in a COVID-safe manner to help us all get through this together.
“We will get through this again. Let’s give NSW Health a chance to do what they do best. And avoid an even longer lockdown”
