Northern Beaches Council today welcomed the guilty plea at Parramatta Court by the owner of four dogs that allegedly attacked and killed another dog in January this year.
Council is prosecuting the owner of the dogs under Section 16(1)(a) of the Companion Animals Act. A sentencing hearing has been set down for 30 October 2019 at Manly Court.
Northern Beaches Mayor Michael Regan said Council takes dog attacks very seriously.
“We will not hesitate to take action if a serious attack occurs and I am pleased we have been able to bring this case before the court,” Mayor Regan said.
“It was a traumatic incident for the family involved who witnessed the loss of a much loved pet.
“The family will welcome the news that a guilty plea was entered today.”
