Council is thrilled to announce the finalists for the 2024 Environment Art & Design Prize. Finalists were selected according to a brief focused on showcasing innovative and thought-provoking works that respond to the theme of environment, with an aim to inspiring action towards a sustainable future.
Northern Beaches Council Mayor Sue Heins said the submission response was impressive.
“The EADP continues to increase its prominence and respect in the arts. This year we received almost 700 entries.
“It is also pleasing to see an increased interest in the Prize from our younger generation of artists and designers.
“The level of entries confirms that the climate, environmental concerns, and the natural world are the key concerns of many artists and designers. I certainly don’t envy the judges, who have a challenging time narrowing down the finalists to just 2 winners in the Art and Design categories, and shared winners in the Young Artists & Designers category.”
Don’t forget you can vote for your favourite in the People’s Choice Award until 21 August, with winners announced on 23 August.
The judges for this year’s Prize include three renowned experts in their field, fashion designer Genevieve Smart, industrial designer Trent Jansen, and visual artist Khaled Sabsabi.
Prize winners will be announced on Thursday 1 August at 6.30pm at Manly Art Gallery & Museum.
View the finalists’ works at Manly Art Gallery and Museum, Curl Curl Creative Space and Mona Vale Creative Space Gallery from 2 – 25 August.
This Year’s prize money, across the four categories, has increased with the Visual Arts and Design winners each receiving an impressive $20,000. The Young Artists and Designers winners will receive a total of $3,000, and the three People’s Choice winners will receive $1,000 per venue.
