A new exhibition featuring works by 38 Northern Beaches based artists is coming soon to the Manly Art Gallery & Museum, titled ‘Home Affairs’.
The exhibition showcases works inspired by a single theme, home, and features a wide range of different types of art, including installation, photomedia, painting, drawing, printmaking, sculpture, wood and ceramics.
Mayor Michael Regan said the exhibition supported the region’s contemporary artists and enabled them to connect to other artists.
“MAGAM has provided a valuable opportunity for these artists to show their work and to challenge their art practice.
“Most of these artists are from the Northern Beaches and some are members of the Manly Art Gallery & Museum Society.
“I would like to thank all participating artists for their enthusiasm and strong level of engagement with this exhibition project.”
MAGAM senior curator Katherine Roberts said the artists each explored a different concept of home.
“Some looked at it as an idea or a possibility, while others explored it as a place, a contested space or somewhere to escape from or to.
“I’m sure visitors will find the exhibition very absorbing and thought provoking.”
