Northern Beaches Council will host two discos over the next two months to provide an opportunity for people with disability to get together and dance the night away.
Discobility Junior, for 12-18s, will be held from 6.30-9.00pm on Friday, 30 June at YOYOs Youth Centre and everyone is invited to come along in their favourite sports team colours.
The second event, for over 18s, is themed “Club All In – Dreaming of Hawaii” and will feature a live DJ and best-dressed competition. The disco runs from 6.30-9.30pm on Friday, 7 July at Collaroy Plateau Youth and Community Centre.
Northern Beaches Council General Manager, Planning, Place & Community, David Kerr, said Council was keen to provide more opportunities for people with disability to participate in the community.
“Our disability discos give young people the same opportunities as everyone else has, to come together with their friends and carers and have fun in a safe environment,” he said.
Tickets for Discobility Junior are $10 at the door. For more information, contact 9970 1629 or youth@northernbeaches.nsw.gov.au.
Tickets for Club All In are $15 including pizza and soft drink, with carers receiving free entry. Bookings are required on 9942 2469 or Jessica.donkin@northernbeaches.nsw.gov.au.
Photo Opportunity: A photo and chat with a young person with disability can be arranged, talking about why the discos are important to them.
