Kinma Bush Warriors Play Important Role In Eco-System Of Creek
Educators from the Northern Beaches Council’s Coastal Environment Centre will be working with students from Kinma School at Neverfail Creek, Terrey Hills to restore local bushland on Tuesday, 4 April from 9:30am to 1pm.
Council’s Deputy General Manager Ben Taylor said the school children will play an important hands-on role in improving the habitat of the local area by planting on the banks of the creek, whilst experiencing a wonderful learning opportunity that relates to their school curriculum.
“The bush regeneration work will be invaluable in stabilising the creek banks and encouraging an increase in macro-invertebrates within the water.
“I am pleased that Northern Beaches Council can work with Kinma School students and I am sure they will be a very capable and enthusiastic group of bush regenerators,” Mr Taylor said.
Macro-invertebrates play an important role in maintaining a healthy eco-system and by providing a great food source for animals such as frogs and birds. They can also play a part in determining the health of the waterway.
