A spectacular display of works by talented HSC Visual Arts students from schools across the Northern Beaches will soon go on exhibition at the Manly Art Gallery and Museum.
Express Yourself 2020 which runs from 28 February to 29 March features art including multi-media, digital, painting, sculpture and drawing from more than 40 HSC Visual Art students from local secondary schools.
It will be officially opened by Archibald Prize winning artist Wendy Sharpe, who grew up on the Northern Beaches.
Northern Beaches Council Mayor Michael Regan said the exhibition reflects the diversity of artistic work from emerging young talent in the region.
“The standard is always high and so it is well worth coming along to see this excellent exhibition at MAG&M which continues to nurture and inspire new generations of creatives.”
Artist statements will be displayed alongside the artworks describing the inspirations and influences that informed the works and the students’ creative journeys. Visitors are encouraged to vote for their favourite artwork in the KALOF People’s Choice award.
The winners of the $3,000 Manly Art Gallery & Museum Society Youth Art Award and $5,000 Theo Batten Bequest Youth Art Award will be announced on opening night. These two awards are granted annually to students featured in the exhibition.
