Vitally-needed upgrades worth $10.2 million have been completed in Warriewood and will improve local road access and flood management.
Warriewood residents can look forward to major safety and accessibility improvements following the re-opening of Macpherson Street and Warriewood Road on the afternoon of Friday, 15th December.
Northern Beaches Mayor Michael Regan said the upgrades formed part of the strategic planning for the Warriewood Valley Urban Release Area and would reduce the impacts of flooding and improve traffic flow.
“It’s a great outcome for the area as these upgrades will significantly improve accessibility and convenience for residents now and in the future.
“We thank the community for their cooperation and patience while we carried out these vital works,” Mayor Regan said.
Major works completed include:
- the widening of Macpherson Street, which has also been raised by 2.2m, and the construction of a bridge over Narrabeen Creek to reduce the impacts of flooding
- the installation of a roundabout at the intersection of Macpherson Street and Warriewood Road to manage and improve traffic flow
- the construction of shared pathways between Boondah Road and Warriewood Road to improve pedestrian safety and link to Pittwater Road
- service works for electricity, water and gas
- additional kerb, gutter, footpath and drainage works in Warriewood Road from Macpherson Street to Vuko Place.
