Good things certainly come in threes at the Manly Art Gallery & Museum with a new wave of thought-provoking exhibits to run from 14 July until 3 September.

Opening night for Aura: Repetition, Reproduction and the Mark of the Artist, Tilt and Wildflowers will be held at the MAG&M on Friday 21 July ahead of a special series of artist talks.

Aura: Repetition, Reproduction and the Mark of the Artist

Aura is an exciting collection of wall-based prints, installations and sculpture from 10 emerging and established artists.

This exhibit uses the supposed shortcomings of the printed media to amplify the marks of the artist and the perceived ‘aura’ of the works.

In Conversation: The curator Ben Rak and several of the artists will discuss their ideas at the MAG&M on Sunday 30 July from 3 – 4.30pm.

The Aura exhibition will tour to Wagga Wagga Art Gallery from 9 Dec 2017 – 4 Mar 2018 and an exhibition catalogue is available.

Tilt

“Which way will the world fall?” is the question Hague-based Australian artist Belinda Fox and Melbourne-based Neville French are asking in this politically-charged collaboration.

The painfully beautiful installation of ceramics paintings, sound and digital prints also questions the duality of human nature.

In Conversation: ABC Radio host Eleanor Hall will discuss the collaborative process with Belinda Fox and Neville French at the MAG&M on Saturday 22 July from 3 – 4pm.

Wildflowers

Northern Beaches local, Salvatore Zofrea, is one of Australia’s leading artists who has been awarded the Order of Australia Medal and an Italian knighthood for his work.

To celebrate the 10th anniversary of Days of Summer, the 40 hand-coloured woodblock prints will be shown at the MAG&M for the first time, alongside some recent watercolour paintings.

In Conversation: MAG&M Director Michael Hedger will discuss the fine art of the graphic medium with Salvatore Zofrea at the MAG&M on Sunday 6 August at 3pm.
