Northern Beaches Council is seeking talented artists to submit concepts for a mural artwork in Manly with submissions for the Market Lane Mural project open until 5pm on Wednesday 17 May.
Northern Beaches Mayor Michael Regan said the mural would form part of the ‘More to Manly - Safer Laneways Project’.
“As well as engaging and providing opportunity for local creatives, the Market Lane Mural will bring vibrancy and creativity to the public space in Manly,” Mayor Regan said.
The mural will be located along a section of the southern wall at the rear of Manly Library, along Market Lane.
The successful submission will be announced on Thursday 24 May. It will be displayed on Council’s website and in the foyer area of Manly Library to provide an opportunity for community feedback in late May 2018 with the project timeline aiming for mural completion by the end of June.
Submission criteria that will be considered include the artist’s skill, experience and capacity to undertake the project; the artistic values of the proposal; proposed costs in relation to the overall budget; and risk and safety considerations. Artist collaborations are welcome.
A selection panel will review and evaluate all expressions of interest to decide the successful submission.
