A handful of bands will put it all on the line this Friday night when the first heat for Northern Composure is staged at Frenchs Forest’s YOYO’s Youth Centre.
With further heats confirmed for Mona Vale Memorial Hall (March 13) and YOYO’s (March 20) ahead of the final at the PCYC Dee Why on April 3, excitement is building.
Mayor Michael Regan is proud that after two decades, Northern Composure continues to gain iconic status among music-minded youth on the Northern Beaches.
“Each year the level of competition is fierce and I’m sure 2020 will be no different,’’ Mayor Regan said.
“Good luck to all those participating in this year’s competition, and I urge young people to get out to one, or all of the events – and support local, live music.”
Among the many dangling carrots for bands this year include a $15,000 prize pool as well as the opportunity to perform at upcoming headline shows such as WAAX and San Cisco.
Other prizes include a marketing and publicity package from Perfect Pitch, a music production package to record a single from Jaminajar Music Production, a sackful of Mall Music products as well as cash prizes.
Bands in the first heat at YOYO’s include Tarantino, The Bucket Boys, Butterbox and Speaking of Which.
Events are all ages, alcohol and drug free, with security present.
Tickets are $10 through Eventbrite online or go to KALOF.com.au for more information.
