As part of the Collaroy Beach Masterplan, Council has built a new public amenities building alongside Collaroy ocean pool, replacing the existing steps and constructing a ramp and footpath leading from Beach Road to the existing promenade.

Mayor Michael Regan said the new facilities are another great addition to this unique area which is a destination for locals as well as tourists and visitors.

“The sign of a strong community is an inclusive community. At Council we’re passionate about ensuring all residents are considered when we’re upgrading or building new facilities.

“This new facility looks fantastic and has opened just in time for the busy summer period.

“Over the past ten years, Council has progressively renewed its ocean pools. To complement the upgrade of this area, the Collaroy ocean pool was reopened to the public back in October following restoration and upgrade works including a newly installed ramp and stairs for easy access.

“Council would also like to thank the Sargood Foundation for their financial contribution to the project. Without them the amenities building and ramp would not have been possible and I know they highly value the new facilities.” Mayor Regan said.

The new amenities building, accessible from the promenade, has been constructed within the existing rock face with the promenade frontage lined with aluminium screening and consists of two fully accessible toilets. The new accessible ramp has been cut into the cliff face and leads from Beach Road to a viewing platform on the roof of the new amenities structure.

This accessible ramp joins an accessible pathway that continues through the lawn area and connects with the existing pathway adjacent to the children’s play area.

New bollard, pole and wall lighting illuminate the new walkways and the northern end of Beach Road has been resurfaced and reconstructed to provide a 1.5m wide footpath with new kerb and gutter

The amenities building is now open to the public and Council is encouraging the public to visit the area and enjoy the facilities.
