Northern Beaches residents are being urged to celebrate the achievements of the finest citizens and events in their community by nominating high achievers in the 2021 Australia Day Awards.
Each year Council recognises outstanding contributions from local residents and events in six categories of endeavour.
Mayor Michael Regan said 2020 has been a very challenging year and people now had the opportunity to acknowledge the contributions of fellow citizens who have led by example.
“The Australia Day Awards is a way we applaud extraordinary individuals who have served their community and have achieved incredible things,” Cr Regan said.
“Now is the time to shine the spotlight on those unsung heroes who go above and beyond to ensure that our community is engaged, safe and progressive.
“This is an opportunity to recognise these special people and show our thanks to those who make a difference.
“I invite you to take the time to submit a nomination for someone or an event you believe is worthy of a tribute. It could be a friend, workmate, someone at your sports club or community group or someone you know doing great work serving the community.”
The 2021 Northern Beaches Council Australia Day Awards categories are:
- Citizen of the Year

- Young Citizen of the Year (under 25 years)
