Terrey Hills artist Ainslie Murray is the 2017 Eramboo/Northern Beaches Council Artist in Residence.

Northern Beaches Council General Manager Mark Ferguson said the Artist in Residence program was previously made available to residents of the former Pittwater Council but was extended this year to all residents on the Northern Beaches.

“I would like to congratulate Ainslie on behalf of Eramboo and Northern Beaches Council, and the broader community who will benefit from her artistic talents.” 

As Artist in Residence, Ainslie receives non-residential use of Studio 6 at Eramboo Artist Environment, McCarrs Creek Road Terrey Hills until May.

Ms Murray said she is excited to be the recipient of this award.        

“I’ll be developing a new body of installation work exploring the theme of ‘humane hostility’, which considers issues of population control, human traffic, and territorialisation. 

“I’m very much looking forward to sharing my work with the community of the Northern Beaches and hope that the community will find the work both challenging and inspiring,” she said.

Ainslie’s work will be presented in a public space on the Northern Beaches later this year.

Ainslie works as a practising artist as well as a lecturer in architecture.
