A chance to become the 2017 Eramboo/Northern Beaches Council Artist in Residence is being offered to local artists.
Susan Milne, Co-Director of Eramboo Artist Environment, said the program was aimed at mid-career artists wanting to develop new work.
“The Artist in Residence program provides a unique experience for a Northern Beaches artist to develop their artistic practice. It’s a career accelerator that sees the selected person produce and then present new work.
David Kerr, Deputy General Manager Planning and Community said Council recognised the importance of artistic and cultural activity in our urban spaces.
“The Artist in Residence program gives expression to local artists in the spaces they are connected with. It’s an excellent vehicle for celebrating what is unique in our town and village centres”.
The successful applicant will have seven days a week exclusive non-residential use of studio 6 at Eramboo Artist Environment, in Terrey Hills for three months.
During the residency, the selected artist will receive mentoring support and tap into the creative community of studio artists at Eramboo.
“The other studios will be occupied, giving the selected artist the chance to connect with a broader community of creative practitioners,” Ms Milne said.
The work that the Artist in Residence creates will be presented in mid-2017 and they will receive support with the installation and promotion of their work.
Applications close on 12 January 2017.
The residency period will be from March to May next year with the presentation of the work timed for July/August.
