Love your Life is this year’s theme for the Seniors Festival, encouraging people to make new friends or get together with old ones at a range of local community events from 13 February to 1 March 2019.
Northern Beaches Mayor Michael Regan said the bumper line-up includes everything from High Tea at the Manly Art Gallery and Museum (MAG&M) to getting up to speed with the digital age, writing your memoirs and Barefoot Bowls.
“Seniors are valued members of our community and Council promotes healthy aging through a number of activities and events of which the Seniors Festival is a signature annual event.
“In some cases people feel socially isolated because of various life circumstances, but through the festival we are encouraging seniors to join a new group, meet new people and enjoy the many great activities Council offers.” Mayor Regan said.
There are so many great activities available it will be hard to choose from.
Destination Sydney: Reimagined is being held at MAG&M where seniors can indulge in Devonshire tea while overlooking Manly Cove and then taking part in a guided walkthrough of the exhibition.
Express Yourself Expo has some great workshops on offer to help you find your voice and develop a new passion like enhancing your personal style, writing a memoir and expressing yourself as a bloke.
Another offering is to attend a gardening talk with ABC’s Gardening Australia personality Peter Rutherford showing how to introduce sustainability practices into your garden and everyday life.
These are just some of the many events on offer. To see the full program and how to book, visit your nearest Council office to collect a brochure, go to Council’s website or download it here for free.
