The 2020 version of Council’s Northern Composure Unplugged is daring to be different this year.
Dubbed “Lyrics from the Lounge” due to restrictions stemming from the COVID-19 pandemic, the level of competition between talented artists and bands will once again be fierce.
After starting with 34 original entries, we now have 10 finalists, whose performances were professionally recorded at Glen Street Theatre and can be viewed on Council’s website.
Following voting online, the finalists will then also be judged by a panel of esteemed music industry professionals.
Judges include the likes of one time Voice contestant Jay Parrino, original Hi5 member Kellie Crawford and Dan Nascimento, manager of popular local rock band Ocean Alley.
With a first prize bonanza of $500 cash, a product voucher from Mona Vale Music as well as a marketing and publicity package from Perfect Pitch, Mayor Michael Regan is anticipating a very high level of performance from the top ten finalists.
“The Northern Beaches has always been a terrific region when it comes to unearthing elite music talent, and I’m sure this year will be electric.
“Council has always been a proud supporter of youth events such as Northern Composure Unplugged, I wish all the finalists well.”
Second prize is $250 cash and a product voucher from Mona Vale Music, with third prize awarding $100 cash and a product voucher thanks to the team at Mona Vale Music.
The People’s Choice Award, also offering cash and a product voucher, rounds out the major prizes on offer.
All finalists will receive a copy of their professionally recorded performance, a gift pack and busking permit.
Online voting closes on Sunday 19 July.
