Northern Beaches Council is encouraging residents and visitors to plan their trip to New Year's Eve celebrations with more local roads being closed this year. Roads closures will start from 4pm at Dee Why and from 5pm at Manly. Alcohol prohibited areas are also in place in these areas and at Rowland Reserve, Bayview.
Northern Beaches General Manager Mark Ferguson said the Council has been working closely with Police to ensure New Year's Eve celebrations are safe, fun and enjoyable for our community and visitors.
"With three great locations across the Northern Beaches hosting firework displays, we want everyone to have a fun and safe night," Mr Ferguson said.
The community and visitors can view the New Year's Eve fireworks displays across the Northern Beaches at:
- Rowland Reserve, Bayview – 9pm and midnight
- Dee Why Beach – 9pm
- Manly Cove – 9pm

Road Closures
Manly
Road closures are in place from 5pm to 10.30pm at:
- West Esplanade from Commonwealth Parade to Belgrave Street
- Belgrave Street from Sydney Road to West Esplanade
- West Promenade from Sydney Road to Gilbert Street
- East Esplanade from Belgrave Street to Ashburner Street
- Wentworth Street from Darley Road to East Esplanade
- Victoria Parade from Darley Road to East Esplanade
A clearway will be in place along West Promenade from 3pm to 10pm to allow State Transit buses to park. Any vehicles parked in the clearway will be towed away. Residents can access Wentworth Street and Victoria Parade in Manly via Darley Road.
Dee Why
Road closures are in place between 4pm to 10pm at:
- The Strand from Oaks Ave roundabout to Dee Why Parade roundabout
- Howard Avenue from Clyde Road to The Strand. Residents can access Howard Avenue, Dee Why via Clyde Road.

Rowland Reserve, Bayview
No road closures. A 150m fireworks exclusion zone will be in place on both land and water.
Alcohol prohibited areas:
Manly
- Manly Harbour foreshore - West Esplanade 24hrs
- East Esplanade from 4pm to 6am daily
Dee Why
Dee Why Beach and reserves from 10pm to 8am daily.
Bayview
Rowland Reserve from 6am, 31 December 2016 until 6am, 1 January 2017
