Northern Beaches Council is seeking community input on the draft Masterplan for Little Manly Beach and Little Manly Point.
Mayor Michael Regan said following extensive initial consultation, the draft plan includes only minor upgrades rather than mass changes.
“Our aim is to make the site more practical as well as preserving its existing character,’’ Mayor Regan said.
“The community told us they didn’t want to add a boardwalk or change the position of the kiosk, so we are looking at modest upgrades in the draft Masterplan.
“The draft plan increases seating adjacent to the kiosk and also sees the planting of additional trees and the construction of a new public toilet facility in close proximity to the car park on Little Manly Point.”
Council has already undertaken a thorough stage one community engagement process which received just under 100 submissions. This was used to help identify issues, needs and aspirations for future use of the park.
A long-term hidden gem on the northern beaches, Little Manly Beach is famous for its natural beauty and Sydney Harbour views.
The area was transformed in the 1990s from a derelict industrial site into a large park and is now utilised by local residents and visitors all year round.
The draft Little Beach Masterplan and Little Manly Point will be on public exhibition for 28 days, and following the final Masterplan will be presented to Council for adoption.
