The reserves adjoining Fern Creek in Warriewood could be renamed Lynne Czinner Park in honour of the former Mayor of Pittwater Council, in a proposal that will go out for community consultation early in the New Year.
Mayor Michael Regan said the proposed naming of the reserve recognises the late Lynne Czinner for her service to the community in particular her dedication to the environment and the people of Pittwater.
“Lynne was a passionate advocate for preserving the environment and the importance of local government.
“The reserves at Fern Creek are a fitting location for her memorial, located as they are in the Warriewood Valley where she campaigned tirelessly for sustainable development, making sure it included an interconnected network of open spaces.”
The proposal will be placed on public exhibition for 28 days in late January.
Lynne Czinner was elected to the first Pittwater Council in 1992, serving consecutive terms until 2008.
Within that period, Lynne spent four consecutive terms as Deputy Mayor from 1998 to 2002, and in 2004 Lynne was elected as Mayor.
