Something special has sprung up at the North Curl Curl Community Garden – a new garden themed playground, opening just in time for the holidays.

Located on the corner of Abbott Road and Griffin Road, the new pumpkin shaped, timber play structure will delight children of all ages.

It’s nestled among the lush community garden and Council nursery and close by the popular North Curl Curl skate park.

Northern Beaches Mayor Michael Regan said the garden themed playground was a fitting addition to the inviting community space.

“This little pocket park will bring a smile to many kids faces, as they climb inside the giant pumpkin and clamber over the timber play structure,” Mayor Regan said.

“For the many local families who volunteer their time in the community garden, this play structure is a welcome addition to this beautiful community space.

“Thank you to all the wonderful volunteers who give up their time to create and care for such a lush, sustainable community garden in North Curl Curl. You are truly amazing.”

The playground includes a timber climbing frame, climbing net and slide, with rubber soft fall and mulch underfoot. A seat and picnic table has been added, along with 520 plants propagated in the Council’s own nursery next door.

This project completes the North Curl Curl Community Centre Masterplan which also included the construction of the skate park, a new 40 space carpark, amenities block and other landscaping works.

“We look forward to providing more great facilities like these to the community over the next 15 years as part of the recently adopted Open Space and Outdoor Recreation Strategy and Action Plan that sets out over 200 actions, to improve open spaces and outdoor recreation facilities across the Northern Beaches,” Mayor Regan said.
