Council is inviting our community, schools and businesses to take part in Clean Up Australia Day as it marks an incredible 35 years.

Now is the time to register for this year’s event on Sunday 2 March 2025, and help keep our neighbourhoods clean and beautiful.

Northern Beaches Mayor Sue Heins said she is proud the community supports this wonderful initiative.

“Every year our wonderful community and Council staff don their gloves to collect the rubbish dumped across our waterways, bushland, parks, open spaces and beaches to ensure our area remains beautiful.

“Clean Up Australia Day is about more than just picking up rubbish – it's about inspiring and empowering communities to realise the importance of our surrounds.

“This day is a powerful reminder that small actions, when done collectively, can lead to a significant positive impact on our environment."

Last year, a staggering 6,500 community volunteers banded together carrying out 13,020 hours to clean up 48 sites across the Northern Beaches, 11 business sites and 26 school sites.

Registrations for next month’s Clean Up are now open. Options are available to sign up for a site to clean or volunteer at a registered site near you.

Businesses are encouraged to join the Business Clean Up Day on Tuesday 25 February and young people can get involved in the School Clean Up Day on Friday 28 February 2025.

Since Clean Up Australia was created in 1990, more than 21 million volunteers have helped clean up Australia.
