Northern Beaches Council is inviting community input into a review of its bulky goods collection services.

Northern Beaches Council General Manager Environment & Infrastructure Ben Taylor said the community has highlighted the inconsistent service delivery currently in place.

“We have an on-call system for bulky goods collection operating for residents of the former Manly and Pittwater, where residents can call and arrange a pick up twice yearly when needed, and a scheduled twice-yearly service operating for residents of the former Warringah.

“The community has identified this as a priority to make the service consistent, so now we are moving to formally seek community input into the review.

“The review will consider the preferences of the community and the environmental, financial and service delivery impacts of any proposed changes.

“Issues include the visual impact of the large volumes of waste we sometimes see with scheduled services, convenience of use and ability to recycle and re-use, as well as the environmental and safety impacts of illegal dumping, nuisance rummaging and pedestrian access,” Mr Taylor said.

Following the community consultation a recommendation will be put to Council.
