Northern Beaches Council is excited to be introducing the first person-centred emergency preparedness (P-CEP) program to the Northern Beaches.
To facilitate this program, Council is now seeking people to become P-CEP facilitators, with comprehensive training provided by the University of Sydney.
The program supports seniors, people with a disability and people from culturally and linguistically diverse backgrounds to develop a personal emergency plan.
Northern Beaches Mayor Sue Heins said Council’s new emergency preparedness program is designed to support key members of our community.
“Council is looking for volunteers to help with this critical program. Facilitators will help develop practical and effective emergency plans for important members of our community,” Mayor Heins said.
“Emergency preparedness is important to all of us but especially so for people who face additional challenges and risks during emergencies.
“Facilitators will help community members to develop their own emergency plan, tailored to their needs and abilities, so they are prepared with a clear plan when responding to an emergency.”
Council is looking for community members over 18 years with skills in care and empathy and the time to be involved with the program. Places are limited from 15-30 people.
Applications close on 17 January 2025 with training occurring February 2025.
This project was made possible by a grant from Sydney North Health Network (SNHN) to deliver the P-CEP program.
