Mark up the calendar, as restrictions ease Northern Beaches Council is ramping back up the summer family event schedule including the popular Christmas concerts, World Food Markets and Sun Run.
Mayor Michael Regan said it was pleasing that Council could deliver its traditional summer event program for the community given the upheaval of 2021.
“We’ve all been isolated from family and friends this year and events are a great way to reconnect with our community and enjoy the best summer has to offer on the ‘Beaches',” Mayor Regan said.
“COVID risk and lock downs forced the cancellation of so many summer events last year. Thanks to the community getting behind vaccination targets and the government forecasting major restrictions easing from 1 December, we can now throw ourselves into planning these events with some certainty.
“Young and old alike enjoy our Christmas events, look forward to our family friendly NYE celebrations and soak up the relaxed atmosphere of the World Food Markets through January and February.
“All our events will be delivered in line with the health orders of the time and implement a relevant COVID Safety Plan.”
Planned events include:
- Christmas Choral Concert, Manly, 2 December
- Christmas by the Beach, Dee Why, 10 December
- NYE, multiple sites, 31 December
- World Food Markets, multiple locations and dates throughout January and February
- Australia Day events, multiple events and locations in the lead up to Australia Day
- Sun Run, 5 February
Council is also supporting many community events through our grants program with details to be released as they come to hand.
While the NSW Roadmap indicated that these events will be able to proceed, they will be subject to the NSW Health Orders in place at 31 December.
The community can stay up to date with all events on the Northern Beaches at Council's website.
