Northern Beaches Council will host a Business Expo on 1 July to help businesses reduce their use of single-use plastics.

The Swap for Good Sustainable Solutions Expo will give local businesses, particularly in the hospitality and retail industries, the chance to talk to behaviour change organisations and suppliers of sustainable packaging and reuseable products. Commercial companies that deliver practical business systems and services will also be present.

Local businesses will also have the opportunity to connect with other like-minded businesses, which have made a decision to reduce single-use plastics.

Mayor Michael Regan said the Expo will be a fun night to build relationships and a great resource to gain a better understanding of how to successfully run a single-use plastic-free business.

“Suppliers, innovators and change-makers will all be under the one roof at Harbord Diggers in Freshwater,” Mayor Regan said.

“Come along to find the best sustainable products for your business and tips on how to positively engage with your customers on the reasons for change away from single-use plastics.”

The Expo is part of Council’s ‘Swap for Good’ program which provides various support measures for local businesses including one-on-one guidance, sustainable procurement guides, online networking hubs and webinars as well as a list of suppliers of sustainable materials.

“Swap for Good fosters a network of businesses who support each other to share their experiences and stories on the plastic-free journey.

“It’s a great time for businesses to join in making the swap to sustainable practices,” Mayor Regan said.

Craig Reucassel, presenter of the ABC’s popular War on Waste documentary, will be MC for the event.

Businesses can sign up for the Expo on Council’s website. Bookings are essential and the event is free.
