The Whistler St carpark will undergo a significant facelift to improve visitor safety.
Mayor Michael Regan said the important works, scheduled to begin in the first half of 2019, would include the removal of the concrete balustrade on the exterior edges of the carpark and the installation of new steel balustrade on all levels.
“The Whistler St car park is over 40 years old and some of the concrete on the edges is deteriorating, creating a potential safety hazard.
“This $1.7m project will not only ensure the safety of those using the carpark it will give a visual lift to the whole precinct.
“It will also provide more natural light and ventilation and a stronger crash barrier around the perimeter of the whole building.”
