A new Council pre-school service in Dee Why has opened to meet the needs of local families.

Dee Why Pre-school opened at the existing Dee Why Children’s Centre at the start of the school year. And due to its expanded numbers for 4-year-olds, it's cut the waitlist for local families by nearly 50%.

Feedback from families has been positive.

Working parents have taken advantage of the support in transitioning children from long day care to pre-school, whilst those with other younger children have welcomed the same-site drop off.

The pre-school is also providing a development opportunity for educators as well as shorter working days to enhance flexibility, reduce burnout and improve retention rates.

Funding for the pre-school has been provided by the State Government as part of their Flexible Initiatives Trial to empower early childhood education and care.
