With Olympic swimmers having packed up their swimmers and towels, and our Paralympic athletes set to kick off their competition in the pool later this month, there are many parents across the Beaches inspired to get their kids back in the pool.

Some families are motivated by Olympic swim success, others understand that swimming – and diving – are essential skills that can help your kids be water wise, stay safe and healthy for the rest of their lives.

Benefits of swimming classes

  • Swimming lessons save lives. Kids learn water safety and how to become competent in the water.
  • Active kids become active adults. Swimming is a great way to improve fitness and it’s fun. If your kids see swimming as something they enjoy doing, they are more likely to do it when they are older.
  • It’s good for mental wellbeing.  The meditative nature of swimming has proven to have mental health benefit in kids and adults.
  • It’s good for personal skills.  Mastering a new skill, aspiring to improve and achieving success builds confidence and resilience.
  • It shows value in practice and determination.  Swimming strokes and repetitive dives demonstrate that consistent practice leads to mastery of technique.

Both our Warringah Aquatic Centre and Manly Andrew Boy Charlton pool offer year-round Learn to Swim and programs for children of all ages.

At Warringah, new programs start from Monday 19 August. Spots in the Learn to Swim classes are available for children 18 months and above across the week.  And for those wanting to try out diving, a springboard program welcomes children aged 8 and above with all abilities.

There’s never been a better time to sign the kids up… and you never know, they might end up being future Olympians when the Games return to Australia in Brisbane in 2032!
