There was a high level of interest from the community with 290 submissions received. You can read further detail in the Summary Report of Public Notification 

After reviewing all feedback, it has been determined the key objection themes cannot be addressed in the short term given there are no Council funds available in the next 5 years to undertake any redevelopment of the site. 

Council will proceed with a new 5-year lease to Balgowlah Golf Club, noting the strong support from its members and the local community.

What was proposed?

Northern Beaches Council proposes to grant Balgowlah Golf Club Limited (ABN 15 000 859 674) a 5- year lease to continue their operations of Balgowlah Golf Course. The land is located at Balgowlah Park, Sydney Road, Balgowlah also known as Part Lot 110 DP 774196. 

Council, as the Crown Land Manager of Balgowlah Park (D500194) Reserve, provides this notice in accordance with Section 3.22 of the Crown Land Management Act 2016 and Section 47 of the Local Government Act 1993. 

The granting of the lease is subject to Crown Minister’s and Council’s final approval.
