Over the last 3 years, Council has been paws-itively thrilled to work with the RSPCA on their Keeping Cats Safe at Home campaign.
The initiative focuses on celebrating our feline friends while helping their humans keep them safe, happy and healthy.
The project, funded by a grant from the NSW Environmental Trust, is all about inspiring a change in how cats are cared for. It aims to provide cat owners with the tools, information and confidence to ensure their beloved pet can stay safely at home while living its best 9 lives.
The community response has been nothing short of paw-some! Some of the initiatives have included:
- Cat photo and enclosure competitions: Over 100 residents have since installed a cat enclosure across the Northern Beaches
- Subsidised de-sexing and micro-chipping programs
- Support for cat shelters: Ensuring all lost, abandoned or stray cats are rehomed with loving families
- Community events: Promoting cat health, welfare and the benefits of keeping cats safe at home.
This initiative isn’t just about the protection of local wildlife; it’s about safety and nurturing the wellbeing of every feline friend. For more information, check out:
