Families have more places to play with the recently refurbished playground at Donegal Reserve in Killarney Heights, and the soon to be completed playground at Merrilee Reserve in Frenchs Forest.
These smaller local playgrounds feature swings for toddlers and the bigger kids and a small play structure with cubby house, slide and fireman’s pole.
These neighbourhood reserves still offer space to kick a ball, run and tumble in the grass, explore or set up a teddy bears picnic. And of course, there’s the all-important seating for parents and caregivers to relax on while keeping an eye on their children.
Council received overwhelming support for the renewal of these playgrounds and used the community feedback to make sure the vibrant designs meet the needs and preferences of local residents including their little explorers.
There are currently 218 playgrounds across the Northern Beaches that range in size, play experiences and amenities. All are reviewed and progressively renewed and upgraded as part of our ongoing commitment to enhancing recreational spaces for our community.
Information on the strategic direction of Council’s playground network can be found in Let’s Play! Northern Beaches Open Space and Outdoor Recreation Strategy and Action Plan.
