With the cost of living rising, many Northern Beaches residents and businesses are switching to energy efficiency measures including turning to solar to reduce their electricity bills.
In fact, over the last 12 months there have been over 2,700 solar installations on the Northern Beaches.
Recent data shows that almost 28% of houses on the Northern Beaches now have solar, up from a figure of 21% back in early 2023.(1)
This means that close to 20,000 homes now benefit from solar power, collectively producing around 433,200 kWh of electricity annually. This self-produced, renewable energy would have cost more than $151,620 to purchase at typical retail electricity prices.
It’s good for our planet too – with total solar installations on the Northern Beaches now offsetting 122k tonnes of carbon dioxide per year – the equivalent of 37k cars off the road per year.
Savvy residents have also been taking advantage of the federal government rebate on solar and due to rapidly increasing electricity costs, a solar system could be paid off in as little as three years (2).

You can also take advantage of the state government’s household energy saving upgrades to reduce costs on your appliances such as water heaters, air conditioners and pool pumps. Incentives for residential batteries will also be coming online from 1 November.
